Scientific Association for the Care of Children and Adolescents

Started in 2010, the Scientific Association for the Care of Children and Adolescents (SYMEPE), based in Thessaloniki, Greece,  is a nonprofit organization – comprised of child psychiatrists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social scientists and educators, dedicated to research, education and training on mental health, as well as psychosocial care of children, adolescents, and their families.

We believe that mental health care for children and adolescents is a basic social right, a fundamental asset of culture.

Our mission is to provide this care through the production of knowledge, the connection of scientific, academic research with practice, the refinement of professional training, and the facilitation of interdisciplinary, interinstitutional cooperation.

We do this by working with professionals, organizations, and the larger community, locally and internationally:

• Offering a variety of educational programsand cultural events, such as professional training, seminars, workshops, and art exhibitions
• Providing services at the institutional level, including staff supervision, consultation, and assistance in court cases
• Publishing, translating, or editingpertinent material, including books, articles, as well as art and literature publications
